Do We Really Need Aaa Membership On Top Of Car Ins?
I got stuck at the shopping area with the keys locked in the car on a Saturday evening. The Insurance roadside asst said 4 hours to come and rescue me. So I am wondering would a AAA membership help? Are they quicker or should I complain to the insurance?
I have used my AAA membership maybe 4 times in my life and each time the response was reasonable. Dispatch is pretty good about giving you a time frame on the arrival. 4 hours? Never. But an hour? I’m not complaining.
Some insurance companies carry towing and roadside assistance, but there may be a limit on how often it gets used. I only know this because I had a car that broke down 3 times in a row in ‘92 and I had to call 3 times to have it towed. It was a loose battery cable, if anyone cares. With AAA, you can call as much as you want. I’ve been a member for many years.
I would recommend complaining to the insurance. Most of the time, insurance companies use the same tow companies as AAA and AAA does not get preferance (although the tow companies state they do) so, if it wasn’t a screw up at the tow company or insurance company, it would have taken that long with AAA
AAA membership will be your best bet! I have both but yet! AAA are more friendly and quicker than the other insurance. Plus double check what are the benefits of AAA that your other insurance won’t cover and on top if you need road maps AAA provides that for free! so it pays!!
Car insurance covers you and and your car financially in case of accident, AAA is a roadside assistance program, so it has nothing to do with insurance.
As to whether or not AAA would be any faster would depend on the providers, if any, in your area. Most insurance company roadside assistance programs go through the lowest bidder who pays the provider next to nothing, so they don’t treat those calls as priority calls.
Next time call the nearest local tow company directly, pay for the lock out service, get a receipt and take it to insurance to be reimbursed.
Well if you have Triple A you can call any gas station and they will come out and tow you or get your car unlocked.Yes I do think it is a good thing to have. You have to have car Inc and if you get triple A it does not cost that much.Without it to get your keys out would cost like anywhere from 50 and up.
I have never had to wait that long with AAA. I have been a member since 1975. In quite a few areas of the country AAA owns it own service vehicles.
I have back up road assistance with my car insurance, if I go over the 3 tows with AAA, but I just have to pay and get reimbursed. If you are paying then the locksmith would have
gotten there faster.
